Kamira Hunte

Montessori Toddler Lead Teacher

My name is Kamira Hunte, and I am honored to be the Lead Teacher for the Star Room. I have over eight years of experience in the educational world. My first job ever was teaching Sunday school at my grandparent’s church and working with children as a summer camp counselor. From there, I wanted to further my passion for working with children. I have a degree in Early Childhood Education and years of experience in the Montessori world. I believe in the importance of the social-emotional development aspect and understanding that each child learns and creates uniquely. I primarily learned how to guide from my West-Indian grandmother, who had her own Montessori school in Trinidad & Tobago. I have assisted her in her classroom for several years after I graduated, every summer, learning more and more about Maria Montessori’s beautiful philosophy in hopes of leading my class one day. I also have a background in the Regio Emilia approach and the public school system. Being a nanny and being a teacher allows me to learn more about the different home dynamics, needs, and cultures that help shape our communities and ways of learning. I am also a mother of three wonderful children myself! For seven years, I have also learned how to advocate for and understand my two autistic children and how exceptional each child can be. I enjoy hikes/nature walks with my kiddos in my spare time. Traveling, road trips, cooking, reading, playing instruments, singing, and writing books. I love to be in nature and embrace what this earth has organically created for us. This is my first year at MCB, and I am so excited to embark on this beautiful journey with such a beautifully cultivated staff and curriculum. A place where each child is seen and guided purposefully and passionately.
